The Mandehoved area and the adjacent Flagbanken feature both heathland – a special area of biological interest – and remnants of the Cold War. The large radar tower still stands on Flagbanken. You are welcome to climb the tower and enjoy the fantastic view over the Øresund and large parts of Stevns. The barracks now serve as temporary accommodation for refugees, whilst the soldiers’ home has been converted into the Stevns Nature Centre. The nature centre is used for educational activities, school camps and holiday stays for schools, amongst others. You can read more about Stevns Klint for schools here.

Especially for birdwatchers
Stevns Klint serves not only as a maritime landmark, but also as a navigational aid for a large number of migratory birds. This offers some excellent opportunities for birdwatching all year round and some truly special experiences in spring and autumn, particularly at Mandehoved and Stevns Lighthouse Centre. Since 2007, a pair of peregrine falcons has bred at Mandehoved, and several more peregrine falcons have joined them along the cliff over the years. You can read more about the species that have been observed at Stevns Klint on the Danish Ornithological Society’s website.
Shelter and campsite
At Flagbanken there is a basic campsite with two campfire pits, a set of tables and benches, and a shelter with space for 6–8 people. You are welcome to pitch small tents at the campsite, and there is access to toilet facilities and water.
The shelter can be booked on Friluftsguiden.dk.
